Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and delivering engaging English Language lessons.
• Support the lead English Teacher during classroom instruction.
• Assist with preparing lesson plans, teaching resources, and classroom activities.
• Support learners in developing reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, and comprehension skills.
• Provide additional academic support to learners individually and in small groups.
• Assist with marking classwork, homework, tests, and assignments.
• Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate academic records.
• Help maintain a positive, disciplined, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Encourage learner participation and confidence in the use of English.
• Integrate ICT and digital learning resources into teaching where appropriate.
• Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development programmes.
• Assist in preparing learners for internal and external assessments.
• Uphold safeguarding policies, school procedures, and the Christian ethos of Firm Foundation Country School.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department or School Leadership.

Must Have

• Bachelor's Degree in English, English Language, English Studies, Linguistics, or a related field.
• Completed Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), Diploma in Education, or another recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong command of spoken and written English.
• Good lesson planning and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic ICT literacy and willingness to integrate technology into teaching.
• Strong classroom management potential.
• Professional attitude and commitment to learner success.
• Commitment to safeguarding and ethical conduct.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with the Cambridge English Language curriculum.
• Experience gained through teaching practice.
• Knowledge of Learning Management Systems such as Odoo, Moodle, or Google Classroom.
• Ability to develop creative and engaging learning resources.
• Interest in debating, public speaking, drama, creative writing, or literature clubs.
• First Aid certification.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
