The successful candidate will support the delivery of high-quality English Language instruction while working closely with experienced teachers and the English Department. Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and delivering engaging English Language lessons.
- Support the lead English Teacher during classroom instruction.
- Assist with preparing lesson plans, teaching resources, and classroom activities.
- Support learners in developing reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, and comprehension skills.
- Provide additional academic support to learners individually and in small groups.
- Assist with marking classwork, homework, tests, and assignments.
- Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate academic records.
- Help maintain a positive, disciplined, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Encourage learner participation and confidence in the use of English.
- Integrate ICT and digital learning resources into teaching where appropriate.
- Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development programmes.
- Assist in preparing learners for internal and external assessments.
- Uphold safeguarding policies, school procedures, and the Christian ethos of Firm Foundation Country School.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department or School Leadership.
Must Have
- Bachelor's Degree in English, English Language, English Studies, Linguistics, or a related field.
- Completed Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), Diploma in Education, or another recognised teaching qualification.
- Strong command of spoken and written English.
- Good lesson planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic ICT literacy and willingness to integrate technology into teaching.
- Strong classroom management potential.
- Professional attitude and commitment to learner success.
- Commitment to safeguarding and ethical conduct.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with the Cambridge English Language curriculum.
- Experience gained through teaching practice.
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems such as Odoo, Moodle, or Google Classroom.
- Ability to develop creative and engaging learning resources.
- Interest in debating, public speaking, drama, creative writing, or literature clubs.
- First Aid certification.
