About the Role

The Computer Science Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science lessons that combine theoretical understanding with practical application. The successful applicant will design engaging learning experiences that develop learners' programming abilities, computational thinking, systems analysis and understanding of emerging technologies.

The teacher will prepare learners for Cambridge examinations through effective lesson planning, continuous assessment and practical programming activities. They will also contribute to the school's technology initiatives, support digital learning across departments and participate actively in school programmes and professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Teach Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science in accordance with Cambridge International curriculum standards.
• Prepare detailed lesson plans, schemes of work and practical programming activities.
• Deliver engaging lessons that develop computational thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Teach programming concepts using appropriate programming languages and development tools.
• Prepare learners for practical and theoretical Cambridge examinations.
• Assess learner performance through assignments, projects, practical tasks and examinations.
• Maintain accurate learner records, assessment data and progress reports.
• Integrate technology effectively into classroom instruction and digital learning.
• Supervise computer laboratory sessions while promoting safe and responsible use of ICT resources.
• Support learners participating in coding competitions, technology clubs and STEM initiatives.
• Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen technology integration across the curriculum.
• Communicate learner progress professionally with parents and guardians.
• Participate in departmental meetings, school activities and continuous professional development programmes.
• Uphold the school's Christian ethos, policies and professional standards.

Must Have

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Recognised teaching qualification (PGDE, Diploma in Education or equivalent where applicable).
• Demonstrated ability to teach Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science.
• Strong knowledge of programming concepts, algorithms, databases and computer systems.
• Experience teaching practical programming lessons.
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• High level of professionalism, integrity and reliability.
• Strong ICT competency and confidence using digital teaching technologies.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and learner success.

Nice to Have

• Experience teaching Cambridge International AS & A Level Computer Science.
• Knowledge of Python, Java or other programming languages included in the Cambridge syllabus.
• Experience managing computer laboratories and educational technology resources.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems.
• Experience coaching robotics, coding, artificial intelligence or STEM clubs.
• Knowledge of networking, cybersecurity and emerging technologies.
• Cambridge teaching experience with a proven record of excellent learner outcomes.
• Ability to contribute to whole-school digital transformation initiatives.
