About the Role

The Biblical Studies Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality Cambridge IGCSE Biblical Studies lessons that develop learners' knowledge of Scripture, critical thinking and the ability to interpret biblical texts responsibly. The successful applicant will prepare learners for Cambridge examinations through engaging instruction, meaningful discussions and continuous assessment.

The teacher will foster a classroom environment that encourages respectful dialogue, spiritual growth and ethical reflection while helping learners understand the historical, cultural and theological significance of the Bible. They will also actively contribute to the spiritual life of the school through chapel programmes, Christian activities and character development initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Teach Cambridge IGCSE Biblical Studies in accordance with Cambridge International curriculum standards.
• Prepare comprehensive lesson plans, schemes of work and engaging instructional materials.
• Deliver lessons covering key biblical themes, teachings, historical backgrounds and ethical applications.
• Encourage learners to develop critical thinking and biblical interpretation skills.
• Prepare learners effectively for Cambridge coursework, mock examinations and final examinations.
• Assess learner performance through assignments, projects, presentations and examinations.
• Maintain accurate learner records, assessment data and progress reports.
• Facilitate meaningful classroom discussions that encourage respectful engagement with biblical texts.
• Support the school's Christian ethos by participating in chapel services, assemblies, devotions and other spiritual programmes.
• Encourage learners to apply biblical principles to daily life, leadership and responsible citizenship.
• Communicate learner progress professionally with parents and guardians.
• Participate in departmental meetings, school programmes and continuous professional development activities.
• Uphold the school's Christian ethos, policies and professional standards at all times.

Must Have

• Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Biblical Studies, Religious Studies, Divinity, Education or a related field.
• Recognised teaching qualification (PGDE, Diploma in Education or equivalent where applicable).
• Demonstrated ability to teach Cambridge IGCSE Biblical Studies.
• Strong knowledge of the Bible, Christian theology and biblical history.
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to facilitate meaningful discussion and critical analysis of biblical texts.
• Strong ICT competency and confidence using digital teaching technologies.
• High level of professionalism, integrity and Christian character.
• Commitment to learner success, spiritual formation and continuous professional development.

Nice to Have

• Experience teaching Cambridge International AS & A Level Biblical Studies or Religious Studies.
• Formal theological training from a recognised Bible college or theological institution.
• Experience leading Bible study groups, Christian clubs or youth ministry programmes.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems.
• Experience organising chapel services, mission outreach activities or spiritual development programmes.
• Proven record of excellent Cambridge learner outcomes.
• Ability to teach another humanities subject will be an added advantage.
• Cambridge teaching certification or relevant professional development will be an added advantage.
