About the Role

The Physics Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging Cambridge IGCSE Physics lessons that combine theoretical concepts with practical scientific investigations. The successful applicant will prepare learners for Cambridge examinations by developing a strong understanding of mechanics, electricity, waves, thermal physics, magnetism, atomic physics and other core topics within the syllabus.

The teacher will create a stimulating classroom and laboratory environment where learners are encouraged to investigate scientific phenomena, conduct experiments safely and apply scientific reasoning to real-world situations. They will also contribute to STEM initiatives, science fairs and continuous curriculum improvement.

Responsibilities

• Teach Cambridge IGCSE Physics in accordance with Cambridge International curriculum standards.
• Prepare comprehensive lesson plans, schemes of work and practical laboratory activities.
• Deliver engaging lessons covering mechanics, electricity, magnetism, waves, thermal physics, light, sound, atomic physics and space physics.
• Conduct practical experiments while ensuring strict adherence to laboratory health and safety procedures.
• Prepare learners effectively for Cambridge practical, theory and multiple-choice examinations.
• Assess learner performance through assignments, laboratory reports, projects and examinations.
• Maintain accurate learner records, assessment data and progress reports.
• Manage laboratory equipment and ensure proper maintenance and safe use of scientific apparatus.
• Integrate educational technology, simulations and digital resources into physics instruction.
• Encourage learners to participate in science fairs, STEM programmes and scientific research activities.
• Collaborate with fellow science teachers to strengthen the school's science programme.
• Communicate learner progress professionally with parents and guardians.
• Participate in departmental meetings, school programmes and continuous professional development activities.
• Uphold the school's Christian ethos, policies and professional standards.

Must Have

• Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Physics Education or a related scientific field.
• Recognised teaching qualification (PGDE, Diploma in Education or equivalent where applicable).
• Demonstrated ability to teach Cambridge IGCSE Physics.
• Strong knowledge of physics concepts, practical investigations and laboratory procedures.
• Experience conducting laboratory experiments safely and effectively.
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong ICT competency and confidence using digital teaching technologies.
• High level of professionalism, integrity and reliability.
• Commitment to learner success and continuous professional development.

Nice to Have

• Experience teaching Cambridge International AS & A Level Physics.
• Familiarity with Cambridge practical assessment requirements and laboratory management.
• Experience using data loggers, simulations and other digital laboratory technologies.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems.
• Experience coaching science clubs, robotics teams or STEM competitions.
• Proven record of excellent Cambridge learner outcomes.
• Ability to teach Mathematics or another science subject will be an added advantage.
• Cambridge teaching certification or relevant professional development will be an added advantage.
